If speed is the key to racing, finesse is the key to rock crawling. RC rock crawling is a test of machine, concentration, driving ability and sheer will. RC rock crawlers carefully negotiate difficult rock formations and surmount obstacles that ordinary vehicles couldn't even begin to climb. At times, it is a slow, deliberate navigation and at times it’s an almost violent display of brute force. In the last few years, more and more specialised, purpose-built rock crawlers have been built that perform better, and better emulate the full-size rock crawlers that are growing extremely fast in popularity as well.

Acme Tech knew they would need to do something special to stand out in the crawler market and they have succeeded in their mission by a long way. The Acme Tech Crawler is an aluminium masterpiece that looks like a piece of art. Almost all the model is made from beautifully machined aluminium with hardened steel used where the crawler needs it most. The model not only looks amazing but is also a great performer. For crawling a vehicle needs power and manoeuvrability. This crawler features a twin 540 motor setup with a gear ratio of 1:147 for powering up rocks or whatever else you put in front of it! It also features amazing flexibility and a high torque steering servo. When you are ready to upgrade your model you can add rear wheel steering or swap the wheels for the massive oversized ones. The crawler comes fully built with standard fitting 7.2v battery pack and UK charger included. All that is required to use is 8 normal AA batteries for the radio handset.
| The crawler comes with these fantastic machined aluminium bead lock wheels that are extremely strong and make it easy to change tyres for different course conditions. The tyres have a tread pattern that is good for most rock crawling courses. The suspension link rods allow the chassis to articulate almost 90 degrees and the tie-rods are adjustable so you can make toe-angle adjustments to the front and rear wheels. |

The gearbox is also made from high strength machined aluminium with a window so you can see the gears inside. The crawler features solid drive shafts and steel gears that are perfect for rock crawling. The axle carriers are machined from aluminium for strength and feature and feature ball bearings to support the drive shafts and axles. The shocks are all oil filled and use a spring that is well suited for most rock climbing conditions. The shocks feature threaded shock bodies that allow the shocks to be easily tuned for different conditions. The shocks come standard with #200 (20 weight) oil and blue springs. |
